Hitting & Pitching Instruction
Scott moved to the Grand Strand in the winter of 2007 where he has continued to build on the success he had in Colorado developing young athletes. In late 2012, Sandman founded Performance Baseball, LLC. Performance Baseball is dedicated to helping players to reach their full athletic potential. Sandman founded the Long Bay Baseball Club, the Knights travel baseball teams in 2011 and in 2014 he founded the Myrtle Beach Pelicans Travel Baseball Club. The teams are the only travel baseball organization officially sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.
Since his arrival to the area, Sandman has personally assisted more than a dozen players in moving on to play at the collegiate level. Four players have garnered Toast of the Coast honors (3 pitchers, 1 hitter), two Mingo Bay Classic MVPs along with several collecting All-Region Honors and a number of younger athletes making their respective high school teams. In the Fall of 2012, his travel ball team, the Johnsonville Flashes (now the Pelicans 14u), went 17-2 and found the boys ranked #1 in South Carolina, #1 in the their Region and #4 in the Nation.
During Sandman’s tenure as a pitching coach in Colorado at Thomas Jefferson and Columbine High Schools, his pitchers would help their teams win three league titles (45-10 overall record during that span), a District Championship (appeared in three other district title games), finish the regular season ranked in the Top 10 four times and advance to the Final Four. Sandman’s pitchers would achieve many honors including Colorado Rockies Top 50 Seniors (2), All-State Selections (3), and All-League Selections (8). In addition to the regular season accomplishments, Sandman found success in the summer leagues as well. Along with several tournament and league championships, he was the head coach of the Junior Varsity team that brought home a State Championship in 2003 for Columbine High School.
Over the years, Sandman has had the privilege of coaching many talented athletes who have gone on to compete at the Division I, Division II, Division III and Junior College levels. Four players have been drafted with three of them signing and going on to play in the minor leagues. Two were drafted and signed out of Columbine High School in the 4th and 8th rounds.
Sandman has also worked camps and clinics with current and former MLB players Orlando Cabrera, Walt Weiss, Rich “Goose” Gossage and Jeff “Boomer” Francis.
