Stan Kowalski

Stan created the Charleston Baseball Academy over 23 years ago to give athletes the opportunity to learn the game of baseball at the highest level and showcase players talents to college coaches and professional scouts. A Lowcountry native, Stan was a two-sport athlete (basketball and baseball) at Hanahan High School. After high school, Stan continued his basketball and baseball career at Spartanburg Methodist College and then transferring to Charleston Southern University sticking with just baseball.

Stan enjoyed great success as a pitcher for the Buccaneers, leaving the school with the most pitching victories in season and in school history. After his playing days, Stan spent eight years as an assistant athletic director for operations at Charleston Southern, Atlanta Braves Associate Scout and President of Player Development for Benchmark Sports Advisors. Stan began training pitchers of all levels over 27 years ago before officially opening Pro Level Sports ( now CBA) in December of 2001.

Some of Stan’s most prized players include Steven Jackson (Pittsburgh Pirates/New York Yankees), Matt Crim (The Citadel/Atlanta Braves), Chris McGuiness (The Citadel/Boston Red Sox/Texas Rangers/Pittsburgh Pirates), John Murrian (Winthrop University/Detroit Tigers), and Matt Vaughn (Clemson) to name just a few. Stan also is Director and Head Coach for the Carolina Prospects Baseball Organization.

Chris Murphy

Chris comes to CBA with a wealth of baseball and training knowledge. Coach Murphy has experience coaching at all levels, including at high school and college baseball levels.

Chris was a former player in the MAAC Conference were he played at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. After his playing days, Coach Murphy has been an assistant at Hamilton College, St. Lawrence University and back as an assistant at his alma matter Le Moyne College. Chris spent time as an assistant baseball coach at local Hanahan High School as well.

Coach Murphy has experience in recruiting, camp coordinating, travel administration and more. Coach Murphy is also a certified strength and conditioning trainer.

Chris will handle the hitting instruction for CBA.

JORDAN TWOHIG

Coach Twohig has been in college baseball for over 20 years as a head coach, recruiting coordinator, associate head coach and Hitting Coach. He most recently spent the last two seasons as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at Charleston Southern University, and helped CSU to one top finishes in the Big South Conference since 2011. CSU’s offense ranked among the top in the Big South in all major categories. Twohig came to CSU after a three-year stint as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Saint Mary’s (Calif.), his second stint with the Gaels, and nearly 20 years of coaching and professional experience, including two times as a head coach. He helped guide SMC to 58 victories over the last three years. The 2024 season will mark his second with the Buccaneers baseball program.

Four of Saint Mary’s former players were featured during the 2023 Major League Baseball All-Star week, including reigning National Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes of the Milwaukee Brewers. Joining him as an all-star selection were Los Angeles Dodgers hurler Tony Gonsolin. Ky Bush was one of Twohig’s recruits made his major league debut in 3024 with the Chicago White Sox.

After his collegiate playing days concluded, Twohig immediately joined the coaching ranks at Feather River College (Quincy, Calif.) for a two-year run in 2003-04 before joining Saint Mary’s for the first time as a volunteer assistant from 2004-06. He became the NorCal Baseball Club head coach from 2006-10 then made the jump to Major League Baseball as an associate scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2007-08.

His journey continued with a second head coaching stop, leading the way at Ohlone College (Fremont, Calif.) from 2008-10, where he compiled a 94-43 record, capturing the state title in his final campaign, the first for any sport in school history, and adding a Super Regional championship and two regional crowns in the process. In 2009 he was named the Coast Conference Coach of the Year after guiding the Renegades to their first league championship in 18 years.

He made the leap back to NCAA Division I in 2010 when he joined the University of Washington staff, assisting with the Huskies’ recruiting and academic efforts. Seven players in a Top-30 recruiting class signed in 2011 were selected in the 2014 MLB Draft.

After his time in Seattle concluded, Twohig moved back to California to assume the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator position at Cal State Northridge from 2014-19.

Twohig played collegiately at Feather River College as well as at York College of Nebraska as an outfielder and left-handed pitcher. At York, he was voted to the all-conference squad and served as a team captain during his two years (2002 and 2003). As a senior, he posted a .363 batting average to go along with seven home runs and 61 RBI. He was a CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2002 with a 4.0 GPA.

Twohig earned his bachelor’s degree with honors in 2003 with an emphasis in secondary and physical education. He then added a master’s degree in 2004 from the United States Sports Academy in sport management.

Jordon will be giving private hitting lessons throughout the week, along with multiple hitting classes and camps in the near future.

buddy bean

Buddy has a passion for helping players develop their skills and move on to play at the next level. A 3 sport letterman and North Carolina High School baseball stand out, he attended North Carolina A&T State University as a scholarship athlete. Buddy had an immediate impact in college as he came in and started for the Aggies as a freshman and played his full college career at the school. He was projected high in the MLB draft in 2000, his Junior year, however due to a season ending injury which put him out for over a year he missed his window. Buddy did go on to play for the Nogales Charros in the Arizona-Mexico Professional Baseball League (independent league) playing with guys like Kelly Johnson (St. Louis Cardinals) and Chuck Carr (Florida Marlins). After his playing days, Buddy began coaching and instructing with Carolina Baseball Academy in 2004. Coach Bean is also acted as a Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Hitting & Catching Coach for the Carolina Prospects 14u-17U teams and the organization as a whole. Buddy handles catching and hitting instruction.
